Meet the Founders

In 1983, a pregnant Debbie Nachreiner & her husband, Rob, began the build-out of C’zar Hair Design & Day Spa in the quaint riverfront neighborhood of Naperville, IL. It was a 5-chair boutique salon positioned on the second floor of a vintage walk-up studio. Meanwhile, Evonne Rutz had been working as a licensed cosmetologist and barber in both Illinois and in Northern California for several years. At their first meeting, Debbie and Evonne became the best of friends and seemed to be kindred spirits. They often joke their souls have been connected in a past life. The two became official business partners in 1988 and have blended their families and careers successfully since. Fast forward to today, over 37 years later, and see together they’ve grown that 5-chair studio to 3 salon & spa locations with over 40 employees and new business partners including Evonne’s daughter, Gina Rutz-Sowa, who owns & operates C’zar Wheaton. They credit their success to employing only NICE people who are humble and driven to creating excellence in their work. As C’zar continues to grow long into the future, their priority will continue to be always looking to improve the guest experience by making them feel welcome and valued.

On April 4th, most salon and spa service rates will increase incrementally in order to counteract the rising costs from our suppliers & vendors. We have done everything we can in order to ensure this increase is as minimal as possible without jeopardizing our service standard or quality.

If you are reserving, or have already reserved, an appointment for April 4th or beyond, please note that our online booking tool and confirmation communications will display old pricing until we make the system update sometime on Sunday, 4/2 through Monday, 4/3. Separately, our website reflects our new rates.
