APPRENTICES

About

Our in-house Apprenticeship is available to full-time employees eager to take their education & skillset to the next level. This hands-on experience serves as a new stylist’s launch pad to a successful, sustainable career behind-the-chair. Program curriculum is designed to cover a vast span of topics & techniques and is designed for completion in 8 to 12-months. Our intimate 4:1 student-to-educator ratio is ideal for all individuals with different learning styles.

How It Works

Hands-on classes take place on Mondays at our beautiful Downtown Wheaton location consistently throughout the year. We typically begin a new Apprenticeship Program every August or September and complete curriculum around Spring. This can vary depending on each individual’s existing skill level and pace of progress. We offer our program at no cost to full-time employees (average 36 hours/week). Apprentices will attend class on Mondays then work a flexible schedule between Tuesday through Saturday, working directly with C’zar Hair Artists or supporting Salon Coordinators for an agreed-upon hourly rate.

Our Green Flags

New grads are under a lot of pressure to choose their first salon wisely. A successful Apprenticeship Program is one thing, but you must look beyond year one. Here’s a couple reasons we believe you’re making an excellent choice.

FREEDOM & FLEXIBILITY

Work-life harmony is the new black. We offer paid time off (PTO) to both full-time and part-time employees. Plus, we're open Tuesday through Saturday & don't require anything of you on Sundays or Mondays (aside from the occasional pool party or continuing education class). We work together to formulate your ideal schedule behind-the-chair, then equip you with supportive assistants and efficient coordinators day-to-day, so you can focus more on the things you love most while you're here.

GROWTH PLAN & CLEAR GOALS

Complacency or in a plateau? No. Not here, anyway! We have 8 levels of achievement for Hair Artists with clear benchmarking systems every step of the way. Once you surpass level 8, you achieve pricing freedom, aka you set your own rates. We set frequent one-on-one chats to set goals, work through set-backs, and form a plan for promotion.

POWERFUL ONLINE PRESENCE

We are who we say we are online. We invest in luxury branding & consistent salon marketing to keep new guests coming in and retain the ones that already adore you. As your #1 hype squad, we even provide professional photos/videos at least once a year to aid with your personal branding.

COMMUNITY > COMPETITION

We believe sharing is caring around here. We've been trusted Hair Artists to many guests for nearly 40 years; often having 2nd—and even 3rd—generations of families in our chairs. As the seasons of our lives change, so do their needs. That means we encourage our guests to see different stylists (whether inside or outside the salon) if what they need is outside our specialty. Plus, we do not have non-compete clauses. If things don't work out between us, you're free to grow wherever you please.

EMPHASIS ON EDUCATION

We are all students. To vibe high here, you must consider yourself a lifelong learner. We provide endless opportunities for continuing education and further training, but require one mandatory skill class per year (always held on a Monday). We strongly encourage more training outside the salon with one of our local education partners, like Professional Salon Concepts or the Douglas J. Aveda Institute.

GOOD ENERGY & PASSIONATE PEOPLE

We want to remain a collaborative space where creative minds & natural-born healers intersect. Our team is made up of all-hearts-in, honest-to-goodness types that aren't just passionate about our careers, but most importantly—about people.
